Don't like the look of this place... Don't like the smell. Gives me the creeps. Don't want to risk a shot at the crows until I know what's in there. Sneaking in tonight.— Peronal journal #6

Jaime Palabras is a hostile ghoul in the Dunwich Building in Fallout 3.[Pub 1] He can be found near an Obelisk in the building's Virulent Underchambers.

Background

Jaime was born as son to a ranger, he originated from the mid-wastelands. At some point, his father brought back a mysterious old tome from an expedition, which he believed to be valuable. His father then tried to sell it to Brotherhood of Steel scribes in the Capital Wasteland, but failed to do so, instead deciding to return the book to its origin.[Pub 1]

Jaime set out southward in search for his father, who had left him alone in an old hospital and "went crazy" after acquiring the mysterious book.[1] Jaime eventually fell in with another group of travelers,[2] who turned out to be raiders. It was not long until they killed a family for a "sack of rotten vegetables," upon which he secretly resolved to get away from this dangerous group as soon as possible.[3] The opportunity to leave the raiders presented itself, when they were preparing to attack a group of traders. Jaime turned on the raiders, and in turn earned the thanks of the traders, who also happened to know where his father was headed.[4]

Following his father's trail, he headed to the Dunwich Building, where he found him to have turned into a Feral Ghoul, only recognizing him because of the Krivbeknih laying on the ground near him. Jaime took up the book as a memento of his father, while resting his body against the warm stone of the unusual obelisk behind him.[5]

Convinced the book would fetch a high price, his father traveled to the Capital Wastes to offer it to the Brotherhood of Steel Scribes. Despondent, Jaime’s father vowed to return the book “to its source.”Fallout 3 Official Game Guide/Wasteland Census
