Once Upon a Time in the Wasteland or Once Upon a Time in the Commonwealth is an adventure included in the Starter Set of Fallout: The Roleplaying Game, developed and published by Modiphius Entertainment. It was announced on May 13, 2022.[Ext 1] Pre-orders began on June 17, 2022, with shipping slated for August 2022.[Ext 2] It was released on August 11, 2022 as a digital download, with physical copies shipping on August 31, 2022.[Ext 3][Ext 4]
Synopsis
The scenario is followed by With a Bang, or a Whimper from the game's Core Rulebook. It can be played as a standalone.[1] By default, the area of the scenario is set around the Commonwealth before the events of Fallout 4. Once Upon a Time in the commonwealth is a short campaign told in three quests ideally meant to be played by a gamemaster and four-to-six players over several sessions. the campaign is intended for level 1 players, though GMs wanting a less challenging game may choose to start the group at a higher level instead. The campaign is designed to introduce the game rules as the story develops, acting as a tutorial.
Description
In the nuclear-ravaged wasteland of the Commonwealth, an armed standoff outside of a ruined vault leads a group of strangers to a discovery that paints a target on their backs and could forever change the region. If they can survive. Will the strangers become a beacon of hope for the future amidst the bleakness of post-atomic America? Or will they take the spoils all for themselves?
