Expeditions is a PvE game mode for Fallout 76. The system takes players to explore and travel outside of Appalachia, and encounter NPCs and enemies along the way.

Overview

Expeditions are story driven, repeatable missions to various locations, starting with the Pitt in 2022.[Ext 1] Expeditions offer new rewards, and are accessed via Vertibird at the Whitespring Refuge, or directly from the in-game map.

  • Progress is quick-saved for later should one choose to quit early.
  • Public teams can be formed to assemble players to participate in Expeditions.[Ext 2]
  • Expeditions are not time-gated.[Dev 1]
  • Each Expedition is split into several missions, each with its own playable zone.
  • Expeditions started by oneself used to have 24-hour reset timer,[1] but have been patched since, allowing for them to be repeated as many times as desired.[2]

Daily quests

Each day, one of the following quests is randomly available at the Whitespring Refuge:

Originally introduced with the Expeditions: The Pitt update, completion of all three quests was required to obtain enough Ultracell Charges to power the vertibird's battery, in order to launch an expedition.[1] This was changed with the Once in a Blue Moon update, which removed the need for obtaining charges.[2]

Rewards

Along with various items, such as armors, weapons or aid, the primary reward for Expeditions are Stamps. The amount of Stamps earned varies by Expedition, and depends on how many of the three optional objectives are completed. In addition, a daily bonus is awarded for completing the first Expedition of the day. Stamps can be exchanged for various plans with Giuseppe inside The Whitespring Refuge.
