"10 of Spades" is the youngest member of the NCR's First Recon Alpha Team, living at Camp McCarran in Fallout: New Vegas.
Background
10 of Spades was born on a farm west of the Mojave, trained to use a rifle since the age of three.[1] He was recruited into the military a year before meeting the Courier.[2] His nickname was given to him by Lieutenant Gorobets, who said more experience was required before he would be granted his original request, to be called the Ace of Spades.[3]
10 of Spades’ partner in the field is Corporal Betsy, a veteran sharpshooter who volunteered for the spot after everyone else refused to put their hands in the life of a new recruit.[4] On one of their assignments, the pair was ambushed by Cook-Cook's group of Fiends. 10 of Spades was knocked out, and Betsy was assaulted by the Fiend leader. Unable to prevent this or protect his partner, 10 of Spades feels responsible and struggles to forgive himself.[4][5]
If asked about how to help Corporal Betsy, he will recommend Doctor Usanagi, who helped him with his stuttering.[6]

Notes
- 10 of Spades is one of the shortest characters in the game, similar to the height of legionaries.
- He will move to the Camp Forlorn Hope mess hall, once the Driver Nephi portion of the Three-Card Bounty quest is completed.
- He no longer talks to the player character if they mock him for his stutter twice. Mocking him once gives the option to apologize.
Quotes
- "If I keep at it, eventually I'll make it to Ace. Think I'll skip Queen though."
- "Nah... it's no p-problem. Everybody likes to have a little fun with me. Just shows they l-l-like me. You don't rib somebody you don't like."
- "Yeah. You just walk away. No fool can trump the T-t-ten of Spades!"
