Ranger is a perk in Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics.

With each level of this perk, the player character's chance of a hostile random encounter is lowered.
Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics
With this perk, the player character will gain +15% Outdoorsman, making them more likely to avoid and or choose random encounters, and have more chance to find special encounters.
Bugs
In unpatched Fallout 2, +20% Outdoorsman is gained instead of +15%. [verified]
