Sergeant J.P. Renkse was a U.S. Army soldier posted at Listening Post Bravo before the Great War.
Background
They were assigned to long-range monitoring within the listening post by Captain Rutledge. Due to being isolated inside the bunker for a long period of time, they started to hear strange voices coming from recordings.[1]

Behind the scenes
The character's name is a reference to Jonas Peter Renkse, lead vocalist of the Swedish metal band Katatonia. The initials "D-E-K" reference the band's album Dead End Kings, while the phrases found on the terminal are lyrics from the song "Dead Letters," which appears on the same album.[Ext 1][Ext 2] Another band member, Anders Nyström, was previously referenced in a different Bethesda title, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.[Ext 3]
