Independent Fallout Wiki Policies
The Image Policy outlines the standards and style utilized in the Independent Fallout Wiki's articles.
Note
Images posted in the mainspace of the Independent Fallout Wiki should not be edited or altered from their original state in any way - whether that be images downloaded from external sources or datamined from game files. We pride ourselves on being the most trustworthy source for Fallout content, guaranteeing to our readers that images presented here are not "recreations" or "clean versions" nor are they AI upscaled.
We strive to present content as it appears in its original medium, so that our readers can trust that all content is authentic and not fan made or misrepresented as game assets when they are not. If you see anything that you think may run affront to this policy, please let an Administrator know.
Mainspace
- Images that require transparency should be uploaded as .webp. All others should be uploaded as .jpg or .webp. Please do not upload large .png. Convert first to a smaller file type.
- Images should not show player character or visible HUD unless it is demonstrating the subject matter.
- Pictures of characters should be how a player can expect to see and experience those individuals in a vanilla environments. They must not be spawned in or manipulated in any way. Modded content is not allowed in mainspace articles.
- Infobox images must center the content and use a 3:4 ratio.
- Fan art or images that have been edited or altered are not allowed on mainspace articles.
Format
- Images must be labeled with the following standardized naming structure: [Name of game] [Content pictured] [Details]. Details can include numbers to signify a series, or a short additional descriptor. An example is [Fallout 3] [Jefferson Memorial] [Exterior], resulting in File:Fallout 3 Jefferson Memorial Exterior.jpg.
- Do not add special characters to image names. Do not label in all caps or add extra spaces.
User pages
- Users are permitted to upload images to use on their user pages. These images must be labeled [User name] [Details] and categorized under Category:User page images. All images must be appropriate for an all-ages audience, any uploads converse to this will result in deletion and/or moderative action.
- Images that are not placed within 24 will be deleted. If a user disables their account or is banned, their user images will be deleted.
- It's the responsibility of the uploader to place the images they have uploaded onto the wiki.
Template
- The
{{File}}template is used to identify both attribution and to categorize. An example can be found below. - For the
gameparameter, use the{{Abb}}template. It is mandatory as to properly auto-categorize the image. - For the
typegameparameter, see Template:File/Types. It is also mandatory as to properly auto-categorize the image. Contact an administrator in case a new type is needed. - If the source is not yourself, you must provide the original source and filename.
