A Wanamingo's just the single orneriest critter there is. Tall as two men, stronger than a bull brahmin, and with flappin' suckers instead of arms. Can't be hurt with guns, neither. S'posedly, injuns called 'em up for revenge on the white-man for what the war did. I don't put much stock in that, though.Marge LeBarge

Wanamingos are creatures that appear in Fallout 2.

Description

Marge LeBarge describes a wanamingo as being "tall as two men, stronger than a bull brahmin, and with flappin' suckers instead of arms."[1] They are fast and resistant to laser weaponry, with a "hive-mind mentality."[Pub 1] They're usually seen underground and in groups.[Pub 1] In Redding's Great wanamingo mine, the queen can be found.

Gameplay

Wanamingos are fierce foes that quickly swarm their target in groups. They can hurl a flurry of melee attacks which induce radiation poisoning. Although they are resilient to most forms of damage, they have a natural weakness to fire and will flee should one of their legs become crippled.

Variants

Wanamingo

Wanamingos are fast melee attackers that are resistant to many forms of damage.

Notes

  • When targeting any wanamingo, the option to shoot an area labeled "the eyes?" appears.[3] The player receives the dialogue "Wanamingo was hit in the eyes? for 'X' hit points, damaging its air (?) intake."
  • Wanamingo plushies were introduced to Fallout 76 with the One Wasteland For All update.

Appearances

Wanamingos appear in Fallout 2.

Behind the scenes

Wanamingos are said to have been created by using FEV,[Dev 1] and are named after the mine they were discovered in.[Dev 2]
