“I record the knowledge of our ancestors for future generations.”
Head Scribe Vree or Master Scribe Vree is the head of the Brotherhood of Steel Scribes at Lost Hills in Fallout.
Described as "intelligent, kind, and patient," as well as "happy with her work," Vree is the Master Scribe for the Brotherhood of Steel at Lost Hills.[Pub 1] Her duties as the Master Scribe include gathering the knowledge of her ancestors for future generations, as well as research into weapons such as Laser Pistols.
All Brotherhood Scribes follow under her lead. Talus states that she is the most intelligent person he has ever known, describing her as being born with a "natural understanding of physics and chemistry," and adding that she spends much of her time anaylzing and reanalyzing "anything she can get her hands on." Her assistant, Sophia, states that Vree is more interested in "research of new weaponry and the information gathered from Mutant autopsies" instead of Brotherhood history. She also states that Vree dislikes being bothered at night, when Scribes begin to meditate.

|Children of the Cathedral, the Hub, Exodus, Initiates, Knights, merchants, Paladins, Scribes
||"Please talk to one of the other scribes. I'm trying to finish up reports for the other Elders."
||"I don't know. Ask Manufacturing about it."
||"They are high-density, laser-readable, manufactured-crystal storage devices. Each one holds over 4,000 gigabytes of information."
||"He makes sure the Brotherhood stays on the path of righteousness."
||"Who? Wait, that name sounds a familiar. Perhaps he is a leader of some of the mutants."
||"He enforces the High Elder's wishes. With force, if necessary."
||"I assume you're refering to the last nuclear war. The Brotherhood is doing
everything it can to restore that which was lost."

Behind the scenes
According to the Fallout Bible, Vree started the examinations for her autopsy report in October 2161.[Dev 1]
"Greetings. It's a fine day for learning. Can I help you?"
"Speak to the knights. Ask them to show you one of the latest laser pistols
"I'm sorry, you're disrupting my meditation. Please leave."
- ↑ Vault Dweller: "I know you're the Master Scribe, but what does that mean?"
Vree: "I record the knowledge of our ancestors for future generations."
- ↑ Vault Dweller: "I'd like to know more about the weapons we make here."
Vree: "Speak to the knights. Ask them to show you one of the latest laser pistols I designed."
- ↑ Vault Dweller: "Tell Me About: Scribes"
John Maxson: "Well, Scribes copy down the weapon specs. We've got information all the way back to my granddad. Sometimes a scribe comes up with a new idea for a weapon. Hehehe. Doesn't happen too often. They all answer to Vree."
- ↑ Vault Dweller: "Tell me about Vree."
Talus: "Vree is one of the most intelligent people I've ever known. I think she was born with the natural understanding of physics and chemistry. She spends every waking moment doing research or analyzing and reanalyzing anything she can get her hands on. If you ever need to talk to her, she can normally be found in her room, on the third floor."
- ↑ Vault Dweller: "You don't consider the Brotherhood's weaponry to be important?"
Sophia: "Vree seems to think that the research of new weaponry and the information gathered from Mutant autopsies is more important than our history. She has forgotten that our history is a vital part of our lives. It has gotten so bad that many of the new initiates don't even know who Roger Maxson is or what exactly he did for us."
- ↑ Sophia: "You shouldn't be here. Vree doesn't like to be bothered at night. This is the time we meditate."
- ↑ Vault Dweller: "Who's Vree? One of the Elders?"
Jennifer (Fallout): "Vree's the Master Scribe. She is the one you should talk to if you have any technical questions, but don't disturb her during her meditations at night."
- ↑ Fallout Official Survival Guide p. 100: "Vree: Master Scribe of the Brotherhood
As Head Scribe, Vree is in charge of knowledge gathering and preservation within the Brotherhood. She is intelligent, kind, and patient, happy with her work, and more than willing to help the player out-especially if you can provide her with more of the knowledge she seeks. She can be an excellent source of information about the Brotherhood, the mutants, modern technology, or about the history of the war. She may also give the player some anti-radiation drugs, as a reward for service or if you ask how to approach a radiation source, and may offer you a newly designed laser pistol. She will also help the player develop computer skills, which you can use with the PIPBoy 2000.
Be respectful, and ask her about everything you can. The Brotherhood is an excellent means for the player to improve his or her skills and to acquire weapons and equipment, and Vree is the best person to know to get everything possible. Make an enemy of her or the Brotherhood, and you will have added some tough and resourceful foes to your enemies list.
Your best bet for getting what you need from Vree is to start out on the right foot the first time you meet her. A high charisma and a good reputation are you best guarantees!"
