Are you lost?

Sticky is a resident of Little Lamplight being kicked out in Fallout 3.

Background

Sticky, also known as "Sticky Hands" and referring to himself as "Jack," turned sixteen just recently.[1][Pub 1] As is the custom, he has to leave the relative safety of Little Lamplight behind and move to Big Town instead.[2] Sticky is rather unhappy about being forced to leave, he complains about the rules while simultaneously tries to bend them in his favor.[3] On the bright side, his girlfriend Red is also in Big Town.[4]

Publications

Known to his Lamplighter friends as "Sticky Hands" though now that he is grown up, he calls himself Jack. If asked what "Sticky Hands" is for, he replies mysteriously "Use your imagination." He's an nonstop-talking, annoying, exuberantly self-centered, 16-year old who acts like he's about 13 (as he hasn't been around enough adult role-models).Fallout 3 Official Game Guide/Wasteland Census

"And one day a giant ant came up to him and started talking like he wasn't some dumb ant, but a person of some kind! It said, 'Prepare to die!'"
Fourth part
"And was our brave hero scared? No. Not all all, he laughed in the face of danger... 'Ha ha ha!' He beat up the monster and everyone cheered!" "And was our so-called hero scared? You bet he was. He cried like a little baby! 'Waa! Waa! Waaaaah!!!' And all his friends laughed at him!" "And what did our hero do, you wonder. He came up with the most cleverest of clever plans... and it worked! And everyone called him a genius!"
Fifth part
"The End! Thank you, thank you very much!" "The End! That's all folks!" "The End!"

Notes

  • He is the only human character in Little Lamplight that can be killed, due to not being classified as a child. He can be killed for no Karma loss.
  • If the player refuses to escort him to Big Town, he will stay on the other side of Little Lamplight's gate indefinitely.
  • If the player accepts his request, he will accompany them for as long as they do not reach Big Town.
    • He may be barred entry from certain locations, such as Raven Rock or Point Lookout, but will usually return to the player once they leave the location.
  • If escorted to Big Town, he will spend his days in the town hall, and his nights sleeping in the common house. Equipment given to him will not be automatically returned to the player's inventory, and needs to be removed beforehand.
  • Several residents of Big Town will advise the player not to mention Red's kidnapping to him, as not to worry him.[6]
  • Unlike regular companions, he will set off traps like land mines.

References

  1. Lone Wanderer: "I'm glad you're safe. There's a guy named Sticky that wants to see you. "
Red: "That's right, his birthday was recently. Did he make it to Big Town already? I can't wait to see him!"
    (Red's dialogue)
  2. Lone Wanderer: "Where did you people come from, anyway?"
Flash: "We all used to live in a place called Little Lamplight, but they have a rule about age. You reach sixteen, and you're out. Didn't matter, though, because you'd just pack your things and head to Bigtown. All the adults go there, and there's plenty to eat. 'Plenty to eat' alright, if you like eating bullets. I've lost count of how many times I've been shot at."
    (Flash's dialogue)
  3. Knick Knack: "Happy birthday Sticky, sorry I missed your party."
Knock Knock: "Yeah. Me too. Sorry."
Sticky: "There's nothing happy about it. This is the worst day of my life."
    Princess: "It's time to go!"
    Zip: "You know the rules."
    Sticky: "The rules are stupid."
Princess: "You're a mungo now. You got to leave."
Sticky: "Maybe I can stay just a little longer?"
    Knick Knack: "Bye Sticky."
    Knock Knock: "Yeah. Bye Sticky."
Princess: "Don't just stand there, get out of here already."
(Knick Knack, Knock Knock, Princess, Zip, and Sticky's dialogue)
  4. Lone Wanderer: "Wow, you're annoying. You'd better make this worth my time."
Sticky: "Um... yeah... I got tons of caps at Big Town. Well, they're not mine really. My girl friend's got them. Her name's Red. She's a doctor, so she's sure to have lots of money. She'll give them to you for making sure I get there safely."
    (Sticky's dialogue)
  5. Lone Wanderer: "What's with the party hat?"
Sticky: "Oh. I forgot I had that on. It was for my birthday. Here, you take it. I don't want it anymore."
    (Sticky's dialogue)
  6. Lone Wanderer: "I'm looking for a woman named Red. Sticky promised me some caps..."
Flash: "Those damn Muties took her with the others when they raided the town last. If you rescue her, I'm sure she'll pay you whatever Sticky owes. But... just don't tell Sticky, okay? He just got here and we want him to have a little hope before we tell him how awful things are."
    (Flash's dialogue)
