Robo-Scorpions are robotic scorpions found in the Big MT in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.
Background
Pre-War
The X-42 Giant Robo-Scorpion was a prototype being developed and tested in the X-42 robo-warfare facility for military use[1].
Doctor Mobius
Robo-Scorpions are self-constructed[2] and controlled by Doctor Mobius from the Forbidden Zone[3]. They can assemble themselves from "floor panels and parts scattered about"[4][5]. Mobius got the idea from Radscorpions[6] and upgraded them in an attempt to "make better scorpions"[7], to use them as his personal army, as his walking eyes and mobile bullhorns[6].
Doctor Mobius' recordings[8][9] and The Think Tank scientists claim the Robo-Scorpions drain inteligence through their stingers[10][11]. The Think Tank relies on Doctor 0's findings for this claim, but no one in the Think Tank is willing to test them because they are terrified[12].
Gameplay
The common variants of the Robo-Scorpion are very durable, being highly resistant to small arms fire and boasting considerable protection against pulse weaponry in comparison to other robots. Like other Robo-Scorpion variants, they will explode on death.
Models
Robo-Scorpions appear in Mk. 1-5 and Mk.1b-5b (data for Mk. 2 and Mk. 2b exist, but both are unused), and come in a Pincer, Blaster and Bomber variants, as well as different sizes relative to their Mark. Their appearance in the game depends on the player character's level and the importance of the location in which they appear.

Notes
- All Robo-Scorpions can be disabled with the Robotics Expert perk.
- Mobius stops speaking through them after the completion of Old World Blues.
- Even if the Courier teams up with the Think Tank and Mobius after completing the Old World Blues quest, Robo-Scorpions are still hostile to the player character.
- Robo-Scorpions will explode even if melted or disintegrated by plasma/laser energy weapons.
Quotes
Quotes are from the Robo-Scorpions, but are transmitted to the Courier by Doctor Mobius through the Robo-Scorpions' bullhorns.
- "Robo-Scorpion... attack!"
- "Go my minion, sting them in the name of all that is Mobius."
- "Stop that, you'll damage the hull!"
- "Destroy this one, I'll make more!"
- "Intruder, you will not escape the eyes of my Robo-Scorpions! Or their pincers!"
Appearances
Robo-Scorpions appear only in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.
Bugs
- Some Robo-Scorpions may continue to quote Mobius if the player completes Old World Blues without killing him.

(Doctor Mobius' dialogue) - ↑ Doctor Borous: "-From his LAIR in the FORBIDDEN ZONE, his terrifying ROBO-SCORPION army clicks and whirs across the crater of Big MT. EVER-seeking. EVER-stinging."
(Doctor Borous' dialogue) - ↑ Doctor Mobius: "They can assemble themselves from floor panels and parts scattered about, quiet inventive - never really know when they might suddenly appear."
(Doctor Mobius' dialogue) - ↑ Courier: "Tell me about Mobius and these monsters of his."
Doctor 0: "*That "genius" Mobius somehow cobbled together these really impressive-looking robot scorpions with spare parts. Even painted them.* *Tried to see what makes them tick. Can't even examine them without them detonating all over me. Left with shrapnel and burns. Every. Time.*"
(Doctor 0's dialogue) - ↑ 6.0 6.1 Courier: "Can you tell me about your Robo-Scorpions?"
Doctor Mobius: " {As if self-evident} Well, every scientist needs an army. Mine came to me after these rather large scorpions kept coming in from the {intentional} dessert. Like poisonous frosting.
How scary, I thought! But they had survived when nothing else had. Perfect candidates for improvement, as a reward for their tenacity.
Then I thought, what if they shot energy bolts and acted as walking eyes and data-drained computers and acted as bullhorns? Then I made them bigger."
(Doctor Mobius' dialogue) - ↑ {Narration} As much as he had attempted to create better scorpions, he tried the same with humanity, with considerably less success.
(Old World Blues endings, Doctor Mobius) - ↑ Doctor Mobius: "{2D, Announcement} Go, my mighty Robo-Scorpions. Crawl in search of intelligence. Then, {emph} sting said intelligence, yes, {emph} sting it."
(Doctor Mobius' dialogue) - ↑ Doctor Mobius: "Sting them, my pets! Sting them stupid!"
(Doctor Mobius' dialogue) - ↑ Courier: "Why would Mobius want my brain?"
Doctor Klein: "WHY DOES HE SEEK OUR DESTRUCTION? WHY DID HE BUILD ROBOT SCORPIONS WITH INTELLIGENCE-DRAINING STINGERS? IT IS BECAUSE HE HASN'T CLEANED HIS BIOGEL IN... A LONG TIME. CLEARLY, HE'S GOT SOME SORT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL CORROSION. HE'S MAD."
(Doctor Klein's dialogue) - ↑ Courier: "Robo-Scorpions drain intelligence from living creatures - how? Chems?"
Doctor Klein: "[SUCCEEDED] I AM NOT CERTAIN. PERHAPS IT ONLY AFFECTS MACHINES. IF SO, YOU MAY BE IMMUNE. IF IT IS CHEMS, THEN WE HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR. SINCE WE ARE AFRAID, IT MUST NOT BE CHEMS AND YOU NEED NOT FEAR, WHICH MEANS YOU CAN TEST IT. LOGICAL."
((Doctor Klein's dialogue) - ↑ Courier: "These mechanical Robo-Scorpions "consume" intelligence? Are you certain of your findings?"
Doctor Klein: "[SUCCEEDED] DR. O IS CERTAIN OF HIS FINDINGS. AND NO ONE ELSE IN THE THINK TANK IS WILLING TO TEST THE RESULTS. LOSS OF BRAINIAL POWER - TERRIFYING. O HAS SAID ON MANY OCCASIONS HIS INABILITY TO COMPREHEND MOBIUS' ROBO-SCHEMATICS IS BECAUSE OF REPEATED ROBO-SCORPION STINGS."
(Doctor Klein's dialogue)
