Ranger Outfit (Fallout: New Vegas)

The Ranger Outfit is a piece of clothing in Fallout: New Vegas. It is worn by the NCR Rangers positioned in the many Ranger stations throughout the Mojave Wasteland.

Gameplay

Outfits

There are multiple Ranger Outfits: the Ranger Red Scarf Outfit, the Ranger Casual Outfit, and the Ranger Vest Outfit. The three outfits do not provide DT or other effects. They are all commonly composed of a scarf, a dress shirt, khaki pants, gloves, boots, and a belt with a large buckle. They can be repaired with other Ranger Outfits or any light clothing through the Jury Rigging perk.

Ranger Hats

There are multiple Ranger Hats: the Ranger Hat, Ranger Brown Hat, Ranger Gray Hat, and the Ranger Tan Hat. Each hat provides +1 to Damage Threshold and can be repaired with any of their variants or other headgear with the Jury Rigging perk.

Locations

Outfits

All Ranger Outfits can be found in any Ranger stations throughout the Mojave Wasteland. Most non-player characters spawn with random outfits. Some named non-player characters are known for wearing specific outfits.

Ranger Hats

Found on NCR Rangers in any Ranger station. A Ranger Hat can be found on the upper floor of a ruined building in Boulder City, next to some skeletons.

Notes

  • None of the outfits are considered faction clothing; they can be worn freely without the risk of hostilities.
    • Despite this, wearing the outfit will occasionally cause NCR Troopers to mistake the player character for a Ranger, granted they have neutral or good reputation with the NCR (being Idolized prevents them from mistaking the Courier, and dialogue will be more specific to them). This does not influence quests or faction standing, nor dialogue from any major NPCs, and only serves to change passing dialogue with the Troopers.
  • The outfits all have a large belt buckle with a bull symbol.
