“You have impressively nimble fingers. As there is a large number of doors that are locked, it is worth considering this perk if you must know what's behind every closet door, storage door, or secret door.”— Fallout 4 Vault Dweller's Survival Guide description
Locksmith is a perk in Fallout 4. It replaced the Lockpick skill from Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, and it was in turn replaced by Picklock perk in Fallout 76.
Effects
Able to pick higher-level locks, with fewer broken bobby pins.
Ranks

2 | PER 4, LVL 7 | You can pick Expert locks. | 00052400 |
3 | PER 4, LVL 18 | You can pick Master locks. | 00052401 |

Notes
- While the first 3 ranks are required to access the different levels of lock, level 4 has a significantly higher level requirement (over twice the level of rank 3) and instead makes your bobby pins unbreakable.
- However, a useful side effect of the bobby pins not breaking is that the player's pick rotation will not be reset after it breaks. This makes it easier for the player to pick harder locks, as they no longer have the issue of losing their place when a pick breaks while just off the sweet spot.
- Cait has the locksmith perk and a small chance of unlocking Master locks, but she requires at least one bobby pin in her inventory to do so.
