John Carmack is a game programmer, and the co-founder of id Software. id Software was later purchased by ZeniMax Media, and he remained the studio head until November 2013.[1]
Background
On November 5, 2009, Carmack commented on an iPhone Fallout game, stating that, while it was nothing official, he had an internal proof of concept for the game.[2] Carmack said that he "at the very least" was "going to be providing code."[2]
In 2016, Zenimax and id Software filed suit against Carmack, alleging he had stolen Zenimax owned code and tools when he moved to Oculus, and that he had breached the non compete clause of his employment contract by recruiting id and Zenimax employees.[3]
