Jake was a worker for Atomic Mining Services before the Great War.
Background
Jake worked at Kerwood Mine under Sam Bailey. Considering Sam to be a friend, Jake confided in him about his concerns over AMS' attempted nuclear excavations in the mine, fearing that it would collapse from the strain. However, he trusted that Sam would be able to convince AMS to stop.[1] This was not the case, and following a detonation and subsequent collapse which killed numerous miners, Jake felt betrayed by Sam's broken promise and quit, stating that he was going to pay "Kerwood's squirt" a visit and blaming Sam for the miners' deaths.[2]
