The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided canyon in the pre-War state of Arizona.
Background
In 2247, Edward Sallow, Joshua Graham, and Calhoun traveled to the Grand Canyon to speak with the Blackfoot tribe.[1] Sallow was an anthropologist and linguist, with an assignment to learn the dialects of the Grand Canyon tribes, but were instead captured for ransom.[2] Sallow would continue on to conquer the tribes of the region, taking the name Caesar and creating an army known as the Legion, with Graham as his second in command, known from then onward as Malpais Legate.
In 2277, Caesar had the legate covered in pitch, set alight, and thrown into the canyon and left for dead as a punishment for losing the First Battle of Hoover Dam.[3] A Legion slave named Siri mentions him and the location if spoken to at the Fort.[4] Antony states that the Legate is dead as no one could survive a fall into the Grand Canyon.[5]
