Feral Ghouls are Ghouls that have lost their ability to reason and have become aggressive.


Also referred to as mindless zombies, ghoul crazies, ferals, and feral necrotic post-humans, prejudice against non-feral ghouls by Humans is due to the widespread assumption that a feral state is the inevitable condition of every ghoul.[1] Feral ghouls are irradiated human beings that have experienced brain degeneration.[2][3] Feral ghouls have no body heat and emit lethal levels of radiation.[4]

According to Three Dog and Diamond City security, ghouls prefer dark areas, often underground or under the cover of the night sky.[5][6] Feral ghouls screech when enemies are nearby, and attack using their hands. Some feral ghouls, such as those in Camp Searchlight, utilize weapons. They usually do not attack non-feral ghouls and may flee combat.[7] Wearing a Ghoul mask will fool feral ghouls, making them remain non-hostile.

Some feral ghouls have lost their ability to communicate but are non-hostile, including Meat, Ethyl, Atom's Champion, and Sun of Atom.
