Father Winter Helmet

FO76 Quest Old Man Winter.png The following is based on Fallout 76 limited time content FO76 Quest Old Man Winter.png

The Father Winter helmet is a power armor helmet in Fallout 76, introduced in the Wastelanders update.

Gameplay

The Father Winter helmet is a unique power armor helmet, modified to resemble the personified Father Winter. The main portions of the head are painted blue and the metallic facial hair and eyebrows are painted white. In place of eyes, the helmet as two protruding cylinders with red lenses.

The helmet incorporates a variety of elements from other models of power armor into its design. It features a centrally-mounted headlamp, similar to that of the T-51b power armor, non-standard rear hose connectors which extend outward toward the front of the helmet, and larger ventilation hoses that are connected by ported canisters roughly halfway towards the front of the helmet in a similar fashion to Ultracite Power Armor.

While the Father Winter helmet is implemented on a technical level as a T-45 helmet and accepts all T-45 helmet mods, it has the Damage Resistance, Energy Resistance, and Rad Resistance of the raider power armor helmet. It cannot be traded, dropped, or sold to vendors.

Locations

The helmet has a 0.625% chance to be received for completing the Fasnacht Day seasonal event with the best performance (all bots kept alive).

Notes

  • This helmet was introduced in the 2020 return of Fasnacht Day as a level 15 variant.
  • The helmet was updated in the third return of Fasnacht Day in October 2020, with newly acquired versions scaling to the player character's level.
  • When attempting to drop/destroy the helmet, a message states that another may be crafted thereafter since the player character knows the recipe. However, although it appears in the power armor station and has no crafting requirements, the helmet is one of the items that can only be repaired.

Behind the scenes

Fastnacht is an annual carnival celebrated by Swiss and German people while traditionally wearing masks that represent demons, jesters, witches and animals. In Helvetia, West Virginia it is normally celebrated once per year on the first weekend after Fat Tuesday,[Ext 1] and concludes with the burning of an effigy in a bonfire.[Ext 2]

Bugs

  • PCPC Xbox OneXbox One Playstation 4Playstation 4 The Father Winter power armor helmet was originally planned to be an Atomic Shop skin. The NonPlayerTradable keyword (00499F7A) was never removed and, as a result, the helmet cannot be traded or sold.[1]
  • PCPC Xbox OneXbox One Playstation 4Playstation 4 The Father Winter power armor helmet does not count as a T-45 helmet for the Funky Duds and Sizzling Style legendary perks, as it is missing the dn_PowerArmor_T45 keyword (00188171).
