Interested in politics, eh? Well, grab a seat and get comfortable.

Dennis Crocker is the ambassador to New Vegas for the New California Republic in Fallout: New Vegas. His full title is "Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary" of the Department of State.[1]

Background

Ambassador Crocker tells the Courier that he has been in politics for a long time and has "always had the drive to do it, even when I was young."[2] He began his political career as a mayor 20 years ago in NCR, and worked his way up through the ranks.[3] He was the head of Kimball's campaign for his successful run for NCR council, which he attributes to why he has his current position.[4]

Ambassador Crocker is the third successor of the title of ambassador to the Strip following Susanna Edith and Phillip Granger, and is in his seventh year of ambassadorship.[5][6][7] He keeps himself busy with the day-to-day paperwork and aiding the NCR police in keeping troops in line on the Strip.[8] He states that he accepts the limitations of his role, focusing on day to day operations instead of ambitions of engineering a full annexation of the Mojave.[9] Crocker comments that the situation may change once the Legion is no longer a threat.[9]

Notes

  • Killing Crocker, even while hidden and with a Stealth Boy equipped, will cause NCR Infamy as well as the soldiers on the Strip to become hostile. It will also start the quest Don't Tread on the Bear!, only to immediately be failed by default, due to his death.
  • He refers to the Courier as soldier if they wear NCR faction armor.[10]
  • He is called "a hollow man" by Ulysses.[11]

Bugs

  • PCPC Playstation 3Playstation 3 Xbox 360Xbox 360 Waiting in the embassy during the night may result in Crocker not appearing in the building the next day, or disappearing from the game entirely.
    • This may be fixed by leaving and re-entering the location. On PC, console commands can be used to either enable him (prid 116840 followed by enable) or by placing him at the player's location (player.placeatme 00112640.)
  • Playstation 3Playstation 3 When the Courier would like to know more about the NCR while having a mixed reputation(merciful thug) with them, the spoken dialogue is different from the text in the subtitles.
  • Playstation 3Playstation 3 Xbox 360Xbox 360 In the subtitles it says the hero of the NCR while he says citizen of the NCR.
  • PCPC While receiving the quest Kings' Gambit if the Courier asks about the other option besides assassinating Pacer, Ambassador Crocker will suggest the Courier "integrate" with the King, when the subtitles say "ingratiate."
