Apostles of the Eternal Light

The Apostles of the Eternal Light are a religious faction based in the ruins of Springvale and led by Mother Curie III.

Background

The Apostles of the Eternal Light were founded by Mother Curie III, a former devotee of the Children of Atom.^[1] Unlike the Children however, the Apostles actively irradiate themselves and only those who have been "baptized in Atom's holy Light" are allowed into their monastery.^[2] Brother Gerard guards the surface access to their Holy Light Monastery.^{[Pub 1]}

The Apostles of Eternal Light believe that Ghouls are "Enlightened beings"^[3] who have given themselves to the "Eternal Light".^{[Pub 2]} Unlike the Children of Atom in Megaton, this church is against the Great Division and thus is opposed to blowing up the Megaton bomb.^[4]

Interactions

Holy Water: The Lone Wanderer will learn of the cult after seeing a Holy Water Pamphlet on the door of their house in Megaton, by asking a few of Megaton's inhabitants, or by talking to Brother Gerard. After a deal is made with them or they are killed, the pamphlet will still appear on the house door.

Lone Wanderer: "You mean I have to be irradiated to be allowed inside?"
Brother Gerard: "Yes, call it what you will. We simply will not allow any who do not bear the Light. Make your way to our Tabernacle, pilgrim. Pray to Atom to fill you with Holy Radiance. Bask in the Glow of Atom's Eternal Light."

Mother Curie III: "That's a vulgar term, used only by those who are jealous of their gifts. We recognize them for the Enlightened beings they are. But to receive such Enlightenment, people need to be exposed to a tremendous dose of Atom's Glow. That's why our holy water is so important! Sadly, only a small number of supplicants truly achieve Eternal Light. The rest must be satisfied with Enlightenment and an end to their suffering."
