The 5mm round is a type of ammunition in Fallout 4.

Gameplay

5mm rounds were used before the Great War mainly by the military. The box containing the rounds is similar to the ammo boxes found around the Commonwealth at military bases and checkpoints.

A box of 51 rounds can be found on a shelf in the radroach-infested building that Regi Blattaria inhabits west of the Corvega assembly plant.
Three individual rounds can be found on a tray on the counter in the stowage depot of the Prydwen.
One round can be found on a desk in the ruined building across the street from the Holy Mission Congregation.
One round can be found in a shattered display case inside the gun shop at Monsignor Plaza.
One round can be found inside Arturo's living quarters at Commonwealth Weaponry in Diamond City.
One round can be found on a metal shelf just below the large container fort at Big John's Salvage. Another can be found underneath a counter at the Red Rocket across the street.
One round can be found by an alleyway near Hester's Consumer Robotics, across the street from the building where Dando is holed up.
Bought from vendors, from level 24 on the amount increases drastically.
Found in various military outposts and checkpoints.
Ack-Ack in USAF Satellite Station Olivia carries a minigun with approximately 600 rounds.

If an enemy or companion picks up a dropped minigun, they will also spawn roughly 500 rounds of 5mm ammunition in their inventory.
Certain types of enemies carry huge amounts of 5mm ammo on them, often in excess of 1000 rounds. The most notable examples are Brotherhood of Steel Vertibird door gunners and the experimental Sentry Bot encountered in the Old Robotics section of the Institute during The Nuclear Option.
