Background season16.webp

Duel with the Devil is the 16th season in Fallout 76. It began on March 26, 2024 and was released alongside the Atlantic City America's Playground update. It followed The Big Score.

Overview

The season overhauled the way that seasons work, it completely removed the Scoreboard mechanic of obtaining rewards and also modified the rank progression system. New ranks are still unlocked by earning S.C.O.R.E. from completing daily and weekly challenges, but reaching a new rank now awards a new, season-specific currency called Tickets, rather than unlocking an item. Tickets can then be used on to unlock whichever item the player desires, with Ticket prices varying per item.

The theme of the season is about another adventure of Rip Daring and his companions, Percival and Guinevere.

Behind the scenes

Senior Monetization Designer Jesse McLean stated multiple reasons for the removal of the Scoreboard and change of the progression system. Scoreboards used to limit the team to Pre-War content for Seasons, while the new system allows them to use Post-War content, such as current factions. Another reason was to provide a better view of the rewards, using larger images on the pages that replace the Scoreboard.[Dev 1]
